🙌 Volunteering with us

We are a very small kennel that we’ve built from the ground up to provide our dogs with the best possible care and our guests with safe, high-quality tours. This means that we handle most responsibilities ourselves, and volunteers are not involved in guiding guests or running tours.

However, from time to time, we welcome volunteers who are a good match for our lifestyle and values. If you're motivated, responsible, and ready to support us in our everyday work, we’re open to applications.

đŸŸ What kind of help do we need?

Tasks can vary depending on the season, but typically include:

  • Cleaning around the dog yard
  • Supervising free runs
  • Giving water
  • Feeding (after training period)
  • Replacing wood chips in the dog houses
  • Chopping and stacking firewood
  • Shoveling snow
  • Mowing the lawn, cutting bushes
  • Helping prepare the guesthouse
  • Checking and maintaining equipment
  • Heating the kota, sauna and/or hot tub (grill cabin)

👉 The time of year influences the type of work:

  • In autumn and early winter, it's all about training – a physically demanding and intense period as we prepare the dogs for the season.
  • In winter, the focus shifts to guest interaction, snow work, and supporting the running of tours from behind the scenes.
  • In spring and summer, there’s lots of time for dog cuddles and socializing – but also more kennel maintenance, repairs, and general outdoor work.
🏠 What we offer

In exchange, you’ll stay in a small apartment in our guesthouse in GlommerstrĂ€sk. You’ll be part of kennel life, take part in dog training, and sometimes even join shorter tours – depending on timing, interest, and experience.

If you stay with us for the entire winter season, there might even be the chance to participate in a full week-long tour at the end of your stay or receive a discount for a friend or family member to join one of our tours.

Most of all, you’ll gain genuine insight into working with sled dogs and life in Swedish Lapland, while living in close contact with nature.

✅ Requirements
  • Minimum age: 25 years (older is even better)
  • Minimum stay: 1 month – no exceptions

  • A true love for dogs – we’ll teach you what you need to know
  • Handy skills (e.g. minor repairs, outdoor work) are a plus
  • Fluent in either German, English, Swedish or Norwegian
  • Your own car is highly recommended unless you enjoy walking the 5 km between our guesthouse and the kennel regularly
